    Frequently asked questions

    How do credits work?

Every story uses credits: a written story uses 1 credit and a picture book uses 3. The free plan includes 3 credits a month. Storyweaver includes 30 a month. Monthly credits reset each month. Extra credits from a credit pack (currently 5 for $3.99) never expire and are used last. If a story fails to generate, its credits come back automatically.

What is Storyweaver, and how does the free trial work?

Storyweaver is the subscription: $7.99/month or $59.99/year (US prices; your store shows your local price). It adds 30 monthly credits, the Bedtime Narrator, longer stories and more. The annual plan includes a 7-day free trial. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it becomes a paid annual subscription and you are charged. The monthly plan has no trial.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple or Google:

    • iPhone/iPad: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Storywillow → Cancel Subscription. You can also use Storywillow → Settings → Manage Subscription.

    • Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Storywillow → Cancel.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You keep Storyweaver until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription. For refunds, use Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play's refund request. Refunds are decided by the store, and we can't issue them directly.

I bought Storyweaver but the app doesn't show it

Make sure you're signed in to the same Storywillow account and the same Apple ID or Google account you paid with. Then go to Settings → Restore Purchases.

What should I enter for names and details?

Anything you like. Any name works: a nickname or a made-up hero is just as good. We recommend not entering information that could identify a real child (a full or real name, school, town or other unique details), especially for stories you might share. Stories are personalized from the settings you choose, so they don't need anyone's real identity.

Who sees my stories? Can I make one private again?

Your stories are private by default. A story becomes public only if you share it by link, add it to the community gallery, or share a collection, and each of these can be undone in the app (on the story itself, or under Library → Your collections → Stop sharing). To report a public story or collection, use storywillow.com/takedown.

    Can I restore a story I deleted?

Yes, for 30 days. Open Library → Deleted Stories and restore it. After 30 days it is permanently deleted.

Is AI used? Can I turn that off?

Yes. Stories are written and illustrated by OpenAI and narrated by xAI, and the app asks your permission before anything is sent. You can review or withdraw permission in Settings → AI services. Without it, new stories can't be made. AI output can contain mistakes, so please read a story before sharing it with a child.

How to delete your account and data

In the app: Settings → Delete account, then confirm with the code we email you. This deletes your account, listener profiles, characters, stories, illustrations and narration. Deletion is completed within 90 days (see the Privacy Policy). Public links to your stories stop working.

Without the app: email support@storywillow.com from the address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We'll confirm the request and delete the account and its data.

To delete just one listener profile or character, open it in the app and choose Delete. Remember to cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account. Deleting your account doesn't stop store billing. Unused purchased credits are lost when the account is deleted.

To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email or Settings → Communication Preferences.
